We are so excited to introduce the ladies Ren & Jen from Real Health NZ (check them out on Facebook and Instagram as well). These two babes are the creators of Real Health NZ committing there free time outside of normal working hours to ’empowering womens wellness’ via their online platform. It’s a kick-ass online platform for a membership based community, providing an Online Exercise Room, Recipes and blogs on all the nitty gritty topics. PLUS their membership is super awesome for pregnant mums-to-be or mum’s with little ones in tow already, who are wanting to get there bodies, health and wellness back while not having to leave the house. Like you can literally do it in your PJ’s, bonus! Anyway before I spill the beans to much lets crack on with this interview…

What’s your favourite food?
Ren ~ Big fan of a good homemade curry! Lover of fruit and dark chocolate.
Jen ~ Hands down fruit, lovvvvve it! Juicy watermelon is my fav!
Who would you invite to dinner?
Ren ~ Big call! Sheryl Standberg or Dr Libby… or Nadia Lim three very inspirational women that I
Jen ~ I would love to have a massive chat with the amazing Dr Libby, love her work!
Favourite sports brand to wear?
Ren ~ I live in active wear so it’s too hard to pick just one! Favs would be Zeenya Clothing, Lorna
Jane & Adidas
Jen ~ I literally live in activewear as a PE teacher and in my weekends too! Nike is defo my fav!
Ren ~ Punnet 10/10 breakfast! Awesome healthy options and the fact they have a homeware shop
just tops it right off!
Jen ~ 2 Birds Eatery, they make the most amazing raw treats! All their food is delicious!
Ren ~ At the moment Yoga and walking is my go to as I’m growing a little human and taking things
a bit more gently! Generally though I LOVE completing the Total Body Blasts from our Real Health
NZ Online Exercise Room! Short, sharp and gets results!
Jen ~ Love a good sweat sesh so a Total Body Blast from our Online Exercise Room is always
good! I also love getting out in nature and walking the dog
Favourite country to train and/or race?
Ren ~ When I was competing in Waterskiing my fav place to train was in Orlando, Florida. Amazing
weather and amazing ski lakes. My fav place to compete was Mexico! Great cultural experience!
Now I ‘train’ in my lounge and compete with myself!
Favourite music to train to?
Ren ~ Jen’s playlist haha i’m useless at keeping up with the music trends. I don’t even have
spotify! Haha need to get with the times!
Jen ~ Anything with a good beat, I love so many different artists. You’ll find most of the top 20 on
my current playlist and the odd gangster tune! Haha
Favourite music to drive with and belt out?
Ren ~ Anything I know that comes on the radio I’ll have a good sing along to!
Jen ~ This is a common occurrence in my car…. Haha! Anything
Ren ~ Nothing great was ever achieved without passion
Jen ~ Believe you can and you’re halfway there
Top tip for self-confidence?
Ren ~ Back yourself!
Jen ~ Always back yourself, positive affirmations always work a treat for me!
Top beauty tip?
Ren ~ Get your nutrition right first!!! What you put in your body is reflected on the outside! And
Jen ~ Sleep, sleep, sleep!!

Ren ~ Big call! Would have to be My Family Table by Eleanor Ozich
Jen ~ I love Julia and Libby’s Wholefood Kitchen!
Favourite smoothie recipe?
Ren ~ My go to green juice! Banana, frozen pineapple, coconut water, big handful of baby spinach
and chia seeds. Looks disgusting tastes amazing!
Jen ~ I love a good banana smoothie. Frozen banana, almond milk, oats!
What’s in your sports bag?
Ren ~ Drink bottle, fruit, yoga mat & Nike trainers
Jen ~ Water bottle, sweat towel, Nikes, my beautiful Mad Yoga mat and my Iph with playlist. Love
cracking the tunes while getting my sweat on!
Where do you find your motivation to go training when you’re super tired or having a bad day?
Ren ~ My wellness buddy Jen! She gives me that hard truths when i’m being slack! I think
everyone needs a wellness buddy for motivation, support and accountability because it’s not
Jen ~ Knowing how good i’m going to feel once i’m finished! Sometimes starting can be the
Ren ~ I play squash & social vollyball (really terribly but love it), morning walks with my dog Trev,
spending time at the lake boating with my family.
Jen ~ I love all sports!! I play Volleyball, Touch and Netball. I also love giving back to sport and
spend my summer months coaching indoor Volleyball. In winter I spend most of my weekends on
my snowboard at the mountain with my hubby. Spending time with friends and family is also very
important for me!
Quirky trait about yourself…
Ren ~ Semi clean freak, I can’t leave the house without making the bed and would rather be late
than come home to mess.
Jen ~ Also a bit of a clean freak, can’t relax after dinner until the dishes are done!
What’s your something you learnt about nutrition recently?
Ren ~ Learning heaps as I’m completing a 1 year Health Coaching Cert with the Integrative School
of Nutrition! 3 things that come first to mind: 1. Bio Individuality ~ There is no such thing as the
perfect diet and what works for one person may not work for another. 2. Highest anti cancer
nutrients ~ ‘GOMNS’ (Greens, Onion, Mushrooms, Berries & Beans, Seeds) 3. Increase Omega 3
to decrease inflammation
Jen ~ I’ve always known Magnesium was important but I learnt in this week’s Good Health Mag the
role it can play in regulating the levels of other important nutrients within the body!
Where is your favourite place to visit in NZ?
Ren ~ My mum and Dad’s container batch on Lake Ohakuri in Rotorua it’s stunning! Also love
spending time at Tairua
Jen ~ Raglan, such a cool vibe!
Coffee or tea?
Ren ~ Couldn’t go without my daily coffee until I became pregnant .. now just the thought of it is so
yuck! Now getting into my green teas
Jen ~ Tea!! Love my cups of tea!!
Smoothie or eggs for breakfast?
Ren ~ Eggs. eggs. eggs! Hands down!!!!!
Jen ~ Eggs!! A smoothie alone would just not cut it for me, i’m a rather big eater!
First thing you do in the morning when you wake up…
Ren ~ Apple cider, manuka honey and lemon drink
Jen ~ Have a hot drink… cup of tea and a apple cider, manuka honey and lemon drink
3 foods you can’t live without?
Ren ~ Dark chocolate, eggs and orange kumara!

Ren ~ Stretch whilst watching tv
Jen ~ Most nights it’s watching my recorded shows on Mysky…. Love good trashy TV! The

What’s your mantra?
Ren ~ Look after your body because without it you don’t have much!
Jen ~ You’ve only got one body, treat it well!
Where did you grow up?
Ren ~ Rotorua! It still feels like home.
Jen ~ Waikato girl through and through!
What did you want to be when you grow up?
Ren ~ When I was little I wanted to be a dancer haha! In my early high school days I set my sights
on becoming a Sports Director for a Regional Sports Trust (Did it for 2 years… let’s just say it
wasn’t what I expected)
Jen ~ I really wanted to do something with medicine….. Nurse etc. Natural Medicine is something
I’ve been really interested in lately so it’s not entirely off the cards…..
What was your ‘ah-ha’ moment with health and fitness?
Ren ~ It’s what you do everyday that matters not what you do once in awhile! You need to be able to do it for the rest of your life not a programme or a diet for a few weeks!
Jen ~ For many years I had gut issues… my eating has never been too bad (maybe not during my uni years) but cutting out refined sugars has had a massive impact on my health! This was a real ah-ha moment for me! You don’t actually realise how good you should feel until you cut out the crap and eat mostly real food!
What’s the best piece of advice your parents ever gave you (or grandparents)?
Ren ~ My Dad always tells me not to sweat the small stuff.. Something i’m still working on but it’s
good advice! Something that’s been drummed into me through my parents and grandparents is ~
Family First ALWAYS!
Jen ~ Growing up we were always such a tight knit bunch, that has taught me how important family
If you could tell your high-school self anything, what would it be?
Ren ~ Chill out and go to more parties!
Jen ~ Believe in yourself!
How do you minimise stress in your life?
Ren ~ Yoga! (Even just 10 min is enough to feel the stress busting benefits!)
Jen ~ Exercise!! Walks with my dog!
What’s your favourite way to show yourself some ‘self lovin’?
Ren ~ Getting a massage!
Jen ~ I love a good bubble bath, a good mag and a cup of tea! Doesn’t take much to please me!

Ren ~ Homemade bliss balls

Favourite comfort food?
Ren ~ Goody goody gum drops ice cream in the summer…. And really dark chocolate in the winter

Ren ~ Although it doesn’t happen very often now getting on my waterski is epic. Fav sport to watch
anything NZ v Australia.

Best natural cold/ flu remedy?
Ren ~ Shi*t load of oranges & Lemon, garlic, apple cider, manuka honey and hot water first thing in
the morning and before bed.
Jen ~ Exactly the same as Ren….. If I feel any signs of a cold i’ll down a few of these!
